Q: What vaccinations do you require for grooming?
A: A current rabies vaccination is required for pets 4 months of age or older. If the pet is boarding for the day at Casa Linda Animal Clinic, additional vaccines may be required by the clinic to stay in their facility. Contact them at (214) 328-5445 for their vaccination requirements.
Q: Can my pet be groomed the same day that it receives vaccinations?
A: For your pet's safety, your pet must wait 24 hours after vaccinations in order to be groomed unless they are being groomed at Casa Linda Animal Clinic. ONLY pets being groomed at Casa Linda Animal Clinic may be groomed the same day they are vaccinated, where they can be seen immediately by a vet in case of adverse reactions to vaccines.
Q: Do you groom cats?
A: We do not groom cats at this time.
Q: Do you groom large dogs?
A: After May 1, 2016, any new dogs we groom must not exceed 35 pounds.
Q: How old must a pet be to be groomed? Is there an age limit for elderly pets?
A: Puppies must be at least 8 weeks old to be groomed. There is not an age limit for older pets. Senior pets will be evaluated on an individual basis to assess their ability to be groomed.
Q: Do you offer hand stripping?
A: Hand stripping, or the process of plucking and removing hair in wire-coated breeds, is not a service we offer. Hand stripping is used primarily in show dogs to help them retain the coarse hair texture that terriers and other breeds are born with. This can be a time consuming and sometimes uncomfortable process, that is unnecessary for household pets.
Q: Should I tip the groomer?
A: Pet grooming is a professional service industry. Just as a hairdresser, manicurist or spa technician for humans receives tips, so does your pet's groomer! Tips are not mandatory, but always greatly appreciated.
Q: Do I have to be home when my pet is being groomed?
A: At least for the first visit, you should be home to meet and speak with the groomer, go over grooming instructions and introduce your pet. Arrangements can be made for future visits if you would like the groomer to groom the pet without your being home.
Q: How often should my pet be groomed?
A: Grooming frequency can vary by breed and coat type, but we require our pet clients to be groomed every 8 weeks or less. We are a maintenance pet groomer, rather than providing occasional or seasonal grooming. Most pets feel much better when they are on a consistent schedule, and it takes less time and is less stressful if they are groomed more frequently.
Q: What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
A: We understand that things come up and this may happen! Please give us as much advance notice as possible. Cancellations received less than 24 hours prior to your appointment time will incur a $25 rebooking fee PER PET. Unforeseen emergencies may be taken into consideration at the discretion of management.
Q: Do you groom pregnant or nursing dogs or dogs that are in heat?
A: No, we recommend that these pets be groomed by a vet or after pups are weaned or their heat cycle has passed.
